Thursday, Jul 14, 2022
Jane Richardson '16 and Ryan Wheeler '90 met at the Native American Graves Protection & Repatriation Act Community of Practice summer training and retreat held at Brown University in June 2022. The retreat brought together 85 repatriation practitioners from museums, universities, tribal nations, and federal agencies to learn and share about their work. Jane works for Bernstein & Associates NAGPRA Consultants in Denver assisting museum and university clients with the repatriation of ancestors and cultural items, while repatriation is a major part of Ryan's work as director of the Robert S. Peabody Institute of Archaeology, a museum at Phillips Academy in Andover MA. Both received bachelor's in Anthropology from FAU before pursuing graduate degrees at other institutions. Jane and Ryan were delighted to chat about mutual friends and colleagues, and to tell everyone about the Burrowing Owls.
